Tips for Maximizing Google Adsense Profits

Changing the look and feel of your Google AdSense format, you can increase revenue earnings from your Website with minimal effort.

Last week, I wrote about making money from your Website by selling text links. In addition to selling your own text link space, you can also use the Google AdSense program to make money with your Website. Basically, this program will pay you for sending traffic to the advertiser’s Website.

The cool thing about this program though, is that the ads are highly targeted to the contents of your Website. For example, if your Website is about cooking, you will see ads displayed by Google that are related to that topic. By displaying targeted ads in this manner, your visitors are more likely to click on one of those related links versus something that is off topic. Think about it from a logical standpoint; if people are visiting your site looking for something about cooking, and they see an ad displayed that 's related to this topic, the better your chances that someone will click on the ad. Makes sense doesn’t it?

However, just slapping the ad code up on your Website probably won’t do much for you, so you will need to optimize your ads. Here are some optimization tips to help you maximize your profits using Google AdSense:

  • Optimize your color palette – Setup your ad background and border to match the colors of your Websites’ background; this will blend in with other contents of your site. Another way is to compliment your sites colors. Rather that using the same background color of your site, you can choose another color in your site to set as your background color.
  • Text colors – Setup your text link colors as the same color you have for the other links on your site. Used with the blending option I just mentioned, will make this blend in more with your site contents.
  • Ad formats – Google Adsense offers several different ad formats for you to choose from. You should select a format that will fit best within your site. The goal is to have these ads look like they are a part of your site, and not just another ad. Wider ad formats tend to do better that some of the others, but you should use what will fit well with your site.
  • Ad Channels – I would highly suggest using the channel settings that Google offers. This will allow you to track your ads and you can see which ad is performing better than others.
  • Section Tagging – If your ads are not exactly targeted how you want them, you can modify the code to match more important sections of your page. For the instructions on how you can utilize this feature, you should refer to the Google AdSense help section because it does require that you are familiar with HTML.

These tips should help get you going in the right direction for optimizing your Google AdSense campaigns to maximize your Website revenues with minimal efforts.
